Overview

What's In My Bin (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a storage inventory tool that lets you label bins with QR codes and see what's inside by scanning them. We take your privacy seriously and collect only what's necessary to provide this service.

What we collect

  • Account information — your email address and name when you sign up via Google OAuth or email/password.
  • Bin and item data — the bin names, locations, descriptions, and items you create. This is the core of the service.
  • Usage data — basic analytics such as pages visited and actions taken, to improve the product.
  • QR scan logs — a timestamp is recorded each time your bin's public QR code is scanned. No personal information about the scanner is collected.

What we don't collect

We do not collect payment information (no Stripe integration is active), device location, contacts, or any sensitive personal data beyond what's listed above.

How we use your data

  • To provide and operate the What's In My Bin service.
  • To send you optional weekly digest emails in the future.
  • To improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns.
  • We never sell your data to third parties.

Public scan pages

When you print and share a QR label, the page at /scan/[id]is publicly accessible to anyone with the link — by design. It shows the bin name, location, and item list. Do not put sensitive information in bin names or item names if you don't want them visible to anyone who scans the label.

Data storage

Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted on AWS infrastructure. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Danger zone.

Third-party services

  • Supabase — database and authentication.
  • Google OAuth — optional sign-in method. If you use Google sign-in, Google's privacy policy applies to that authentication step.
  • Vercel — hosting and analytics.

Your rights

You can export all your data (Settings → Data & export), delete individual bins and items, or delete your entire account (Settings → Danger zone). For any other requests, email us at hello@whatsinmybin.com.
